The importance of role models

· My Story,Mindset

What is a role model?

What is a role model anyway? Did you ever look up to somebody? It can be a family member, a teacher, an actor, a super star or even a spiritual leader. A role model is someone to whom we look up to and someone we want to be similar to. It can be the role model's values, attitudes, behaviors, looks, knowledge or success that we set out as and example and admire. Someone we strive to be like.

Positive and negative role models

So here is the thing. Often the process of having a role model is not always a conscious choice. It might happen over time. It is a good thing to take time and reflect over your own role models. Who are they? How long do you have them as role models? Are they really helping you to get where you want in your life? If you have picked up a role mode that is negative to where you want to go in your own life, well maybe it is time to pick out new helpers.

The Ideal role model

The ideal role model helps you to transform your own life to the better. Take your time and analyze the changes you want to to make in your life. Pick out a person, a friend, an author, a coach, an actor or a teacher that can support you on your way to your dream life.

My picks

In my own life, ever since I was a young girl, I have had some very important role models, that have helped me to become the person that I am today. First of all my mum and dad. They gave me a stable childhood with a lots of love. Through them I learned to value family and love on the top of my value chain. This is still my top priorities. My father inspired me to follow my own path, discover the world, interact and communicate with people from all over the world. My mum brought me up to be independent, but attached, to be proud of working and take honor in my success and that women can do the exactly the same things as men.

Another role model that has followed me through life is Pippi. Yes, exactly, that Pippi. Pippi Longstocking. Oh my, I still admire this girl. She is brave, she is so strong, she lives very close with animals, she lives alone in big house, she has a big bag of golden coins, she can travel the world when ever she wants, she can take care of any obstacle coming her way. She is funny, she has friends and she is a little bit crazy. While writing this I realize she is still working very well as a role model for me.
